404ページのマーケティング

いわゆる世界でもっとも見られているページの1つ「404 Page Not Found」。

ページが存在しない時に表示されるページです。

そのようなページを使ったマーケティング方法をちらちら見ることがあります。たとえば、以下のページは、私が前にクリッピングしていたのですが、さっき見たら404になっていました。ただ、単なる404ページではなく、ヘッダーやサイドバーはきちんと残しながら、コンテンツのボディの部分に404であることを表明しています。

これによって読者はそのサイトの他のページへの導線を得ることができます。また広告もここで表示できるかもしれませんね。もちろん、このような施策はよく見かけるもので、確かmixiや他のブログサービスなどでも対応しているケースは多かったように思います。

そういえば、以前のロリポップサーバーの404は、謎の少女が表示されていた気がしますが、昨今は違うのでしょうか。以下を見ると広告枠になってますね。

他には、twitterが初期のころに行っていた、「トラフィックがオーバーして表示されないよ！」といった時のアナウンスページも有名です（メンテページだったかな）。猫がメンテしている写真が表示されていました。最近はクジラがなんかしてますね。

はてなだと、犬が出てきます。ブログラインズだと「パイプ管工事のオッサン」がでてくるのが有名です。

このようなエラーページにも、小粋なネタを仕込むことで、ちょっとしたマーケティングに繋がったりすることもありそうです（ないかもしれませんが）
